Meanwhile, Volkwin Marg, the founder and owner of GMP Architects, said: “We have had the honour of building more than 20 stadiums, but this is the most important project we have ever taken on. We present to you the most important stadium of the new generation.

"The design reflects the values the legendary club that is Real Madrid holds dear. Additionally, the retractable roof will allow for different events to be held here. Sporting events, cultural events and other kinds of entertainment that will attract people to the stadium who have previously never visited it".

For his part, Volkwin Marg, founder and owner of GMP Arquitectos, stated: “We have had the honour of participating in the construction of 20 stadiums, but this is the most important project of our career. The event opened with the projection of a video showing images of the evolution of the Santiago Bernabéu and the main sporting events that have been held in it. Florentino Pérez then took the floor: "For the millions of Madrid fans around the world, this piece of land means passion, history, dedication and the glory of this club. We have experienced unique emotions that have strengthened the character of the club".

"It would be impossible to comprehend everything that Real Madrid means today without this stadium. Building and raising the stadium was a huge challenge for Real Madrid and it had to turn to the members to fund the work. Santiago Bernabéu paved the way and our priority has always been having the infrastructure that suits this"
